If you have been a regular of the Colonel’s blog, you should be aware that we have and will face real problems. The unstable dollar, the New World Order, FEMA camps, gun control, more and more of our rights being taken away on a daily basis, potential EMP attacks…etc…I know you ask yourself
“What can I do about all that?” But, I ask you, ” Are you ready?”
A little over a year ago, on the advice of someone, I did a few things:
1. I got my gun permit. I took NRA classes in basic pistol and shotgun. I am not a good shot, but I am no longer afraid of guns.
2. I started taking better care of myself. I lost nearly 50 pounds, started exercising, and got into much better shape than I was in. Am ready to walk miles, carry a 20 pound bag of rice, and haul firewood.
3. I started stocking up on food and water. Included on the shelves is comfort food(things you REALLY like), flour, rice, pasta, crackers, peanut butter, olive oil, beans(a good source of protein), basic everyday food. Pet food as well, if you have pets. There is about a sixx month supply in the basement. There is about 200 +/- gallons of water. I also bought a Big Berkey. Wherever I go, the Berkey comes with me. You can live without food, but you can only live 3 days without water.
4. I bought an old fashion bar b q grill, briquettes, and starting fluid.
5. Oil lamps – with a supply of extra wicks, lamp oil, matches, and candles as well.
6. Personal supplies. When on sale buy shampoo, razors, toothpaste and brushes, dental floss, tablets to clean dentures, nail files, soap, cotten balls, q-tips, birth control supplies, female products like tampons, sanitary
pads.
7. Toilet paper and paper towels. Experts suggest a 2 year supply. Good items to use for barter. Sanitation is very important.
8. Learn how to can. I took canning classes and have started putting up food.
9. Learn how to make bread from scratch. I no longer fear yeast!
10. On July 30th at 8p on the National Geographic cable channel, watch the
“Doomsday Preppers.” You will be amazed what someone people have
done to prepare!
11. Energency supplies/First aid: assorted bandages, gauze wraps, tape,
bandaids, sanitary pads(the kind with the cotten like top to absorb)make excellent pressure dressings, thermometer, a blood pressure machine, diabetic supplies, personal meds, tweezers, hemostats, assorted ointments, vitamins,
12. Take a first aid/CPR class. Check with your local hospital for classes.
13. A solar/crank radio. The best one I bought was from the Christmas Tree Shop for $7.95!!!
14. Take classes in amateur(ham)radio. Check out a local ham club or go to the AARL website. If there is am emergency like an EMP attack, there is NOTHING. No cell phones, no twit, no tweet, no facebook. Ham radio operators should be able to operate on battery powered rigs.
15. Stock up on all the kinds of batteries that you use.
16. Get a watch that does not have a battery. Thee are plenty of kinetic, solar, and the old fashion wind up watches out there.
17. A woodstove can hear your house and you can cook on it as well..
18. Cleaning supplies: Vinegar, baking soda, detergent, dishwashing liquid soap. A cheap way to make bleach(which kills everything including the HIV virus)is to use Calcium Hypochloride found in swimming pool
shock. A HALF of a teaspoon to one gallon of water and you have bleach.
19. READ!!! Here are some books that I have learned a few things:
a) Just in Case(How to be self sufficent when the unexpected happens)
by Kathy Harrison
b) Patriots by James Wesley, Rawles
c) How to survive the End of the World as we know it
by James Wesley, Rawles
d) One Second After by James R. Forstchen. This book is what happens
AFTER an EMP attack. Unfortunately, the offical wesite is gone!

I just read about the killings a a child”s birthday party at the roller skate rink in Grand Prairie! Tragic and unbelievable cannot even begin to describe the
absolute panic and horror that the people must have felt in the roller rink!

It was the mayor of Kandahar, Afghanistan who was killed by the turban bomber.
