Editor’s Note: Due to the nature of the secrecy laws surrounding the no-fly list, terror watch list and the master DHS list, it is impossible to accurately estimate the number of people who have been added to the lists thus far, and the  number of people being added daily. This article makes assumptions based on inaccurate information and comes to conclusions that may be considered extreme. The premise of this article, regardless of the legitimacy and credibility of the assumptions and estimations, leads to a conclusion that may very well become reality over the next decade as global security services continue to expand their monitoring and surveillance capabilities.

A report from the Washington Post (brought to us via Infowars.com) says that the new official policy for the terrorist watch list is that a single ‘credible’ tip may deem you unworthy of (air) travel in the United States of America:

Since then [the underwear bombing incident of 2009], senior counterterrorism officials say they have altered their criteria so that a single-source tip, as long as it is deemed credible, can lead to a name being placed on the watch list.

The government’s master watch list is one of roughly a dozen lists, or databases, used by counterterrorism officials.

According to the Wall Street Journal, there are roughly 440,000 people on the watch list as of December 2010, though USA Today indicates that over one million names have been added as of 2009. In 2006 the list contained just 71,000 names (which was subsequently corrected to remove errors, ending 2006 with about 34,000). It is not completely clear whether or not the “no-fly” and “terror” watch lists have been merged into one master list, though recent reports suggest Department of Homeland Security has centralized the management of all watch lists.

Nonetheless, the number of individuals being added to what the WSJ refers to as the terrorist watch list, but which may be a combination of the no-fly and terrorist watch lists (confused yet?), has seen an increase of over 1000% over the last four years alone.

This suggests that the number of individuals being added is nearly doubling every year. Based on the following ad-hoc calculations, at this pace the list(s) will grow exponentially over the next decade:

At this rate, there will be about 550,000,000 people on the watch list by 2019, which exceeds the population of the United States and then some. By 2023, the watch list will actually exceed the population of the entire earth – at which point one can speculate that the government of the U.S. will restrict all air travel.

Reminiscent of travel in the communist East Bloc of the 1960’s to late 1980’s, those wishing to travel from one country to another, or even from town to town, will need to be screened, authorized, and issued travel papers by Homeland Security.

Under Soviet style rules, everyone was on the watch list, much like we will be by the end of this decade. It makes sense then, from the perspective of DHS, TSA and other security services, to simply create an Approved Travel List, codenamed the Go-Fly List, which will be used to designate who has been cleared for flight (or bus or train travel).

This would clear up an mystery about whether or not a particular individual is a terrorist, domestic extremist or person-of interest, because everyone would automatically be assumed to be a potential threat. Only those who have received the appropriate travel papers – a domestic or international travel visa – would be allowed access to public and/or private transportation.

We realize that this sounds like an impossibility – the idea that average, everyday Americans would be restricted from travel for no reason at all – but we point out that this is already happening now. Of those one million or so already on the list, there are a host of people who have arguably been added by mistake, including:

• Former US Senator Ted Kennedy (Added August 2004) [Link]
• Seven Year Old John Anderson (Added 2004, still on list in 2008) [Link]
• Actor Mark Ruffalo et. al. related to upcoming documentary “Gasland” (Allegedly Added 2010) [Link, Ruffalo Responds]

A 2007 audit of a sampling that included 105 records on the list as of 2006 found that 38% of the records were innaccurate.

With the new policy changes, however, the question of how the government determines accuracy becomes even more hazy. One ‘credible’ tip to the FBI or other law enforcement agency is now enough to land you on the list, and anecdotal reports suggest that once you’re on, it’s virtually impossible to be permanently removed, as seven year old John Anderson’s experience shows.

With the introduction of the Department of Homeland Security’s See Something, Say Something initiative across every Walmart in the country, as well as other private and public organizations, we will continue to see mega-growth in the watch lists – simple statements that run counter to government policies or opting out of backscatter Homeland Security screenings may be all it takes

Now Two Murdoch Whistleblowers Dead

(YBH) – First it was Big George Webley who relayed a fear for his life and wound up dead.  Now it’s Sean Hoare.  Two British media whistleblowers. Two untimely deaths.

Let’s assume that neither was killed by Rupert Murdoch (toxicology reports haven’t been made available; foul play isn’t suspected by British authorities in either case), but something happened that put the fear of God into both men.  Neither was known as a lunatic before their demise, both simply told the truth to British authorities about what they knew of Mr. Murdoch’s enterprises and died afterward at a relatively young age.

Mr. Hoare’s role in the evolving scandal is obvious: he worked at News of the World and broke the scandal wide open by charging his former editor, and then Prime Minister David Cameron’s Communications Director Andy Coulson, with lying about his role in NOTW’s phone hacking.

Big George, for his part, allegedly revealed in private testimony to British authorities the fact that the Sky TV show he worked on in the early 90′s ,”Jameson Tonight”, had routinely bugged the dressing rooms of guests looking for scoops. Mr Webley’s charge was relevant because News Corp.’s initial defense was that the hacking at NOTW was the work of a rogue reporter.  Big George’s charge threw cold water on that defense by helping to establish a pattern of subterfuge over many years at Murdoch-owned enterprises.

At first, Big George’s April 29th frantic phone call to me (eight days before his death at age 53, details here) didn’t make much sense.   Now that the scandal has broken wide open a few things are much clearer:

• The hacking/bugging taking place at News Corp. businesses was far more widespread than previously known.
• Based on their dismissals from News Corp. it is shown that the hacking went far up the food chain all the way to Les Hinton, who resigned as head of Dow Jones last week.
• The police were involved, as evidenced by the resignation of two of Scotland Yard’s top cops.
• Prime Minister David Cameron’s Communication Director was a former Murdoch employee and News of the World editor.

The United Kingdom is the closest western country to a de facto police state.  Surveillance cameras are everywhere.  No Bill of Rights (in law or practice), and by living there you acknowledge that you are a subject of the British Crown.   Britain is a great place, but it is not exactly a place where freedom flourishes compared with the United States, France or Canada.

Given the above, it is very easy to envision a scenario where the police could and would build a campaign of quiet intimidation against men like Mr. Webley and Mr. Hoare.  London police were on the payroll of a Murdoch enterprise; why wouldn’t they act to protect their racket?

The Murdoch empire is fighting for its life, but let’s not forget both Sean Hoare and Big George Webley, two men that it would seem either directly or indirectly are collateral damage in the whole affair.  Someone needs to speak for them.

5 states face Moody’s credit downgrade

The credit rating agency said it has placed on review for possible downgrade the triple-A bond ratings of Maryland, New Mexico, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

A triple-A rating is the highest for debt and tells investors an institutional borrower presents a minimal credit risk.

Last week, Moody’s placed the U.S. government’s triple-A credit rating under review for a possible downgrade as Congress and the White House wrestle over raising the nation’s $14.3 trillion borrowing limit. Moody’s said there is a small but rising risk the government will default on its debt if federal officials don’t raise the limit.

EXECUTIVE ORDERS-THE ROAD TO MARTIAL LAW

•  Executive Order 10995: Seizure of all communications media – radio, television, newspapers, CB and Ham radio, telephones and the internet (in effect, suspension of the first amendment)
• Executive Order 10997: Seizure of all electrical power and fossil fuels
• Executive Order 10998: Seizure of all food sources, farms and farm equipment. Food will be rationed. Today some states have anti-hoarding laws on the books, stating that anything over a one week’s supply of food is considered hoarding and against the law.
• Executive Order 10999: Seizure of all transportation and control of all highways, interstates and seaports. Any vehicle, public or private, can be taken.
• Executive Order 11000: Seizure of all civilians for work under Federal supervision.
• Executive Order 11003: Seizure of all airports and aircraft, public or private.
• Executive Order 11004: Housing and Finance given authority for population relocation.
• Executive Order 12919: Directs various Cabinet officials to be ready to take over virtually all aspects of the United States economy during a “state of national emergency” at the direction of the president.
• Executive Order 13010: Directs FEMA to take control over all government agencies in times of emergency. FEMA is under the direct control of the executive (presidential) branch of government.
• Executive Order 11490: Establishes presidential control over all United States citizens, businesses, and churches in times of “emergency”

These are executive orders passed by presidents–Republican and Democrat alike–elected to preserve our freedoms and the Constitution. Their very duplicities show that they have no intention of honoring the ideals of the constitutional republic handed down to us, that they are the very men that the Founders warned us about.

In fact, our Founders understood that this constitutional model could be overturned and made ineffective should the restraining power of the people against the federal government be made moot through judicial or legislative process.

Men like John Adams, James Madison, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Alexander Hamilton all viewed the separation of powers to be indispensible to the continuation and preservation of liberty and the United States.

So what does the passage of these Executive Orders tell us? It tells us this …

The dominoes are in place to subject the American people to a state of martial law nationwide.

And the sad thing is, this isn’t even a new occurrence. American presidents, governors, and mayors have flexed their martial-law-imposing muscles at various times throughout our history.

• In 1871, President Grant sent troops into South Carolina to confiscate all private guns.
• In 1914, President Wilson ordered the infantry into Colorado to disarm everyone involved in a labor union dispute, including members of law enforcement and the National Guard.
• In 1993, the U.S. Army provided advice, tactical support, and military equipment to the FBI and the BATF to raid the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, which resulted in the deaths of 74 men, women and children.
• Martial Law was declared by General Andrew Jackson during the War of 1812.
• President Lincoln declared it again during the War Between the States, arresting anyone who dissented from his war-time policies, including newspaper editors and legislators.
• In 1931, Texas Governor Ross used National Guard troops to enforce limits on the size of private property.
• Much of the Pacific Coast was under martial law after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
• And as recently as 2005, New Orleans was under orders of martial law after Hurricane Katrina, orders which stripped remaining law-abiding citizens of their ability to protect and defend themselves and their property.

Not only do we have Executive Orders paving the way for martial law, we have precedence for it. All that’s needed in order to put it into motion is a trigger point, whether real or imaginary.

FBI says agent of Pakistani spy service gave thousands to congressmen

Pakistani accused of masking contributions to US politicians

The FBI has arrested a man investigators say was an agent of Pakistan’s official state intelligence service, accusing him of making thousands of dollars in political contributions in the United States without disclosing his connections to the Pakistani government.

Syed Ghulam Nabi Fai will appear in federal court this afternoon in Alexandria, Va. He’s not charged with being a spy. But he is charged with being an unregistered agent or lobbyist of the Pakistani government.

He’s the executive director of a group called the Kashmiri American Council. Political contribution records show he has given tens of thousands of dollars to congressional candidates and party organizations. The FBI said in court documents released Tuesday that the council is effectively run by the Pakistani government.

An FBI investigator says an informant told the FBI that Pakistani’s intelligence service, ISI, created the council “to propagandize on behalf of the government of Pakistan with the goal of uniting Kashmir.” A call to the Kashmiri American Council’s office in Washington went unanswered this morning.

Court documents reveal that the FBI has been investigating Fai for at least four years and that he has repeatedly denied that he has ever “provided any services to any foreign entity.” To the contrary, the FBI says, “The government of Pakistan has long directed and funding his lobbying and public relations efforts in the United States” for at least 20 years, based on intercepted communications between Fai and Pakistani officials.

Agents say the government sent him at last $4 million since the mid-1990s, sent through several contacts in the U.S. who are not named in the court documents unsealed Tuesday.

According to federal campaign records, Fai began giving money in 1990, but his largest contributions have come in the past five years.

He is listed as giving nearly $30,000 in campaign contributions to U.S. politicians and parties over the past 15 years, about a third of it to Rep. Dan Burton, R-Ind., head of the Pakistani caucus within the House.

According to the records, Burton received more than $10,000, including $2,000 each, the maximum allowable under U.S. law, in the 2004, 2008 and 2010 congressional campaigns. In addition, Fai gave the National Republican Senatorial Committee $3,500 in 2004, $5,000 in 2006 and $1,000 in 2008. Rep. Jim Pitts, R-Pa., also received $2,000 in 2004. The only Democrat to receive a significant amount of money was Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va., who received $2,000 in 1998.

Among other politicians who received smaller contributions were the campaigns of Rep. Dana Rohrbacher, R-Calif., $500; and the presidential campaigns of Al Gore, $250, Dennis Kucinich, $500; and Barack Obama, $250.

FBI raid seeks suspected “Anonymous” computers

(Reuters) – The FBI Tuesday raided three homes in New York for computers suspected of being used by members of the Internet vigilante hacking group Anonymous, an agency spokesman said.

One residence in Brooklyn and two others on Long Island were searched for computers and computer-related accessories. At least one laptop was removed from one of the homes, the FBI said.

No one was arrested.

“The searches are in connection to an ongoing investigation,” FBI spokesman Peter Donald said.

Anonymous, a grass-roots organization inspired by WikiLeaks and its founder Julian Assange, claimed to have broken into Apple Inc servers earlier this month.

It also launched attacks in December that temporarily shut down sites of MasterCard Inc and Visa Inc using simple software tools freely available over the Internet.

Anonymous also has released scores of private e-mails and other data from an Arizona police website.

The group teamed up with the Lulz Security group of hackers in June. LulzSec has breached websites of Sony Corp, the CIA and a British police unit.

Mother Loses Custody of Infant over Poppy Seeds?

Eileen Bower of Pennsylvania is suing the Lawrence County Department of Children and Youth Services for taking custody of her newborn son after she tested positive for opiates, a result — her lawyer says — of her eating poppy seeds.

Stanley T. Booker, Bower’s attorney, told ABC News that Bower gave birth to her son on July 13, 2009.  A routine blood test performed by Jameson Hospital uncovered the presence of opiates in her system.

“They contacted Lawrence County Children and Youth Services and got a court order to take custody of her child on July 15,” Booker said.  Bower regained custody of her child 75 days later.

But before giving birth, Bower ate a salad with dressing that contained poppy seeds, which Booker believes led to the positive test result.

“There were only trace amounts of opiates — they couldn’t even put a range on the amount,” Booker explained.

After the initial blood test, the hospital sent the blood to an outside laboratory to confirm the result, which came back the same.

“But even before the confirmatory test results, they contacted CYS and there was an order to take custody,” Booker said.

Neither Jameson Hospital nor the Department of Children and Youth Services returned phone calls from ABC News, but according to the American Civil Liberties Union’s web site, the hospital’s policy is to perform drug tests on all new mothers and submit positive results to the Department of Children and Youth Services.

Both Jameson Hospital and the county’s child protection agency are involved in a nearly identical case involving another woman whose child was taken as a result of a positive drug test.  Elizabeth Mort said she ate an everything bagel with poppy seeds on it shortly before she gave birth to her daughter.  She filed her lawsuit last October.

Toxicologists said that if trace amounts of opiates were found in Bower’s blood, they didn’t necessarily come from poppy seeds.

“It depends on the nature of the hospital’s test, but when it comes to poppy seeds, you would have to eat a lot more than salad dressing to get a positive presumptive test,” said Chip Walls, director of the Forensic Toxicology Laboratory at the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine.

“A positive blood test is more than likely not from consuming poppy seeds, but it’s not out of the question,” said Bruce Goldberger, director of toxicology at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville.

Both experts emphasized that it didn’t mean there was an illegal drug present, either.

Have a plan in place for escape to higher ground in case a tsunami is generated by the plate slippage that is happening worldwide.

14 arrested in operation targeting “Anonymous”

 

New York (CNN) — At least 14 people have been arrested as part of an ongoing operation targeting the notorious hacking collective known as Anonymous, a federal government official said Tuesday.

The arrests have taken place in locations including Florida, the San Francisco area in California and New Jersey, the official said.

Earlier, a senior federal law enforcement official said up to 15 total arrests are expected following the execution of more than 15 search warrants.

The warrants were being executed in New York and several other states Tuesday by the FBI as part of the investigation, according to the federal government official.

FBI agents spread out to about a half dozen locations on Long Island, in Brooklyn and in the Bronx, where they seized computers and other records, according to the federal government official, who requested anonymity given the sensitivity of the investigation.

In the past, Anonymous has launched attacks on websites belonging to the Church of Scientology, the Motion Picture Association of America and the Recording Industry Association of America.

However, the hacker collective vaulted to worldwide fame in December, when it disabled or disrupted the websites of MasterCard, Visa and PayPal in what the group said was retaliation for the companies’ cutting ties to the WikiLeaks website following the arrest of Julian Assange. Assange founded WikiLeaks, which facilitates the release of secret information. He is currently out on bail in England and is fighting extradition to Sweden, where he faces sex crime charges.

In addition, Anonymous has been linked to cyber attacks at the CIA, Sony, Fox News, the Arizona Department of Corrections and a well-known consulting firm, Booz Allen Hamilton, among others.

The group is implicated in denial-of-service attacks, in which large amounts of traffic are directed to a website, overloading it and, in effect, shutting it down.

The FBI in New York refused to confirm Tuesday’s actions involved Anonymous. “These search warrants are being executed in connection with an ongoing FBI investigation,” said FBI spokesman Peter Donald.
